All of the wires are grounded behind the carpet against the firewall which is where he is attaching the new wire in this car, which is standard in not just Mercedes-Benz. You can also see he is covering the wires with heat shrink. In some cases wires are soldered together, completing the circuit. In cases where the wires can’t be held in place to be soldered connectors are used and heat shrink is used to protect the wires from moisture, dust and dirt.
